In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Monmouth County Library and the  9/11 Memorial & Museum  are presenting an in-person  poster exhibition:  “September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World.” This educational exhibition recounts the events of September 11, 2001, through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks. Told across 14 posters, this exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the Museum’s permanent collection.This exhibit will be on display at both Library Headquarters in Manalapan, NJ and Eastern Branch Library in Shrewsbury, NJ between September First and September 30, 2021 The poster exhibition was developed by the   9/11 Memorial & Museum   and has been made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom. Tuesday, September 28 -- Virtual The Morristown and Morris Township Library presents THE WRECK OF THE BROKER: The Story of New Jersey's Deadliest Train Wreck A Presentation by Gordon Bond   On the drizzly evening of February 6, 1951, the Pennsylvania Railroad commuter train known as "The Broker" derailed in Woodbridge, New Jersey, killing 85 and injuring hundreds in what remains the deadliest railroad accident in the state's history. What happened is reasonably well-understood. Half-Day Hike and Paddle Huber Woods Park - Environmental Center Parking Lot 25 Brown's Dock Road, Locust (Middletown Twp.), NJ 07760  Tue, Sep 28, 2021, 1:00-5:00 PM (adults) Join a Park System Naturalist for a challenging half-day experience full of hiking and kayaking. We will hike two miles through Huber Woods Park towards Claypit Creek. Along the way we will discuss the plants and animals that live in our park. Upon arrival at Claypit Creek, we will use “sit-on-top” kayaks and paddle into the Navesink River to observe an active bald eagle nest, osprey flying overhead and search for herons, egrets, and a host of other critters that depend on our waterways. We will return to Claypit Creek, where participants will be bused back to the Huber Woods Environmental Center. Be sure to bring water and a snack, dress to get wet, and wear comfortable shoes!
